A year's absence from the game didn't seem to effect Kirkland last season at MPC, as the defensive back finished third on the team in tackles with 53.
A Salinas High grad, Kirkland intercepted three passes for 95 yards, returning one for a touchdown. On an island by himself on defense, he also broke up five passes.
