The Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners have awarded 11 high school senior distance runners with scholarships to continue their education and running careers.
"We hope these scholarships help them achieve their goals and dreams and we expect great things from this year's honorees,'' said Mike Dove, who founded the organization in 2001.
Among those awarded were Greenfield's Jocelyn Sosa, who went to the state cross country finals two straight years, leading her team to their first two MTAL titles.
Also honored were Monterey's Leslie Oseguera, Marina's Olivia Jimenez, Soledad's Yvette Tavarez, North Salinas' Serena Olivares and Santa Catalina's Jessica Gutshall.
For the boys, it was Alvarez's Nicholas Merllana, North County's Owen Ibarra, North Salinas' Raul Barraza, Pacific Grove's Douglas Dow and York School's Ryan Ixtlahuac.
