Halamandaris/Pearson update

Nick Halamandaris has continued to improve his draft stock for Major League Baseball’s June Amateur draft, hitting .308 for the Cal baseball team.
The senior outfielder/first baseman, who was drafted in the eighth round by Seattle as a senior in high school at Stevenson, has three homers and 24 runs batted in for the Bears in 39 starts -- with 15 of his 45 hits having gone for extra bases.
Halamandaris, who began the season in the outfield, has moved back to first base for Cal, where he sports a .992 fielding percentage, having handled 242 out of 246 chances this year.
Teammate and former Carmel three-sport standout Devin Pearson is second on the team in runs scored with 27 in 39 starts. The senior designated hitter has two homers and 15 runs batted in.
Pearson, a two-time Herald Athlete of the Year, is among the NCAA leaders in hit by pitches with 14. With 15 walks and 35 hits, he sports a .370 on base percentage.
