CCS track

Zack Miller wanted to make his mark in the 100.
 So did Mikayla Revera.
Yet, the pair understand a better future lies in the more grueling 400 meters.
Fresh off a Pacific Grove school record 48.55, Miller will go into Friday's Central Coast Section boys track and field finals the favorite.
Revera, a state meet qualifier last year and the Santa Catalina school record holder in the 400, is ranked No. 2 at 55.15.
Miller is still learning the event after spending his first two years running the 100 and 200 for the Breakers. Eight weeks into it, his time has dropped nearly two seconds.
Revera, who has won three straight MTAL 100, 200 and 400 meter titles, dropped the 100 at the CCS trials after attempting the rare feat at last year's section finals.
The 400 and 100 are separated by 10 minutes at the section finals, with the 400 first.
Both will also chase state meet berths in the 200 later in the evening, as Miller and Revera are each ranked No. 2. Miller is also ranked No. 4 in the long jump.
CCS 1,600 leader Roman Munoz of King City comes into the finals ranked No. 3 after his 4:21.29 at the trials. The junior has a best of 4:17.34.
Munoz, who won a CCS Division IV title in cross country last fall, was the Top Eight champion last month in the 1,600.
Raul Barraza is returning to the section finals in the 800 for North Salinas, where he is ranked fourth among five runners all within a stride of each other.
The top three in each event advance to the state meet, unless they meet an automatic qualifying mark at the section finals.
Steven McEnroe, who went to the state meet last year for King City in the discus, will need a big PR to get back, as he's ranked ninth coming in.
Carmel's Nick Lombardi is returning to the finals in the high jump, as is Salinas' D'Vina Brown in the discus. Both were fifth last spring.
Look for projected finishes on Friday.
