CCS DIII softball playoffs

If Notre Dame is going to repeat the feat as section champions for a fourth straight year, it will have to play an extra game this spring.
There's no bye this year for the 15-time Central Coast Section Division III champions after they were seeded a disappointing No. 5 and will host Mercy-Burlingame today at 4:30 p.m.
Six starters are back from last seasons title team for the Spirits, including sophomore hurler Vanessa Gonzales and senior slugger Lauren Pullara.
A Notre Dame win could set up a Saturday bout with Mission Trail Athletic League champ and No. 4 seed Carmel, who hosts Castilleja of Palo Alto.
The Padres have relied on the arm and bat of senior Danielle Caoili all season as she has driven in 23 runs in 23 games and has racked up 12 wins in the circle.
Stevenson is on the road this afternoon as the No. 12 seed, visiting No. 6 seed and former Monterey Bay League power Live Oak of Morgan Hill.
Reigning MTAL co-MVP Jensen Main has carried the Pirates on her shoulders this year with her arm and bat, along with Academy of Arts bound slugger Dominique Seva'aetasi.
Santa Catalina will be making its eighth straight playoff appearance as the No. 9 seed, visiting Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League champion Scotts Valley.
The Cougars are riding into the playoffs with a lot of confidence after Tatumn Satow tossed a two-hit shutout over Carmel.
Santa Catalina has won five in a row with Satow and Marissa Bruno having driven in a combined 53 runs this spring.
