Unwarranted drama for a program

I get the fact that administrators and parents want coaches teaching athletes values that go beyond athletics.
Coaches are an extension of the classroom. A coach is helping mood a teenager into an adult.
But if you're going to suspend a coach because he uttered a profanity to himself in a dugout, you better make the rules equal for all coaches in all sports.
Ever listen to a coaching staff during a football game?
Listen it happens. I'm not saying it's right. But a slip of the tongue in a heated moment occurs.
 A warning?
 Absolutely.
As adults, we shouldn't do it in front of kids.
But to threaten a suspension on the eve of a game, to where a coach was prepared to step down could have had catastrophe results for one program on the rise.
 It became a distraction.
Fortunately, everyone got on the same page to avoid a disaster. But ultimately, the only ones getting hurt in a decision like this would have been the kids.
