King City baseball

The anticipation was this would be a development year with one eye on the future in King City.
Apparently four sophomores didn't get the text.
Or they were just oblivious to expectations, because the future has arrived early in south county.
The four horseman have made an immediate impact for the Mustangs, who have won seven straight and sit one game behind unbeaten Carmel in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
Sophomores Armando Pena, Jose Arreola and Clay Barbree have formed a foundation for the future on the mound for King City, all pitching gems this year.
Arreola has also provided a big bat in the lineup along with sophomore Cedrick Perez, giving senior Jacob Flores protection in the order.
Since dropping two of its first three, the Mustangs are 10-1, avenging a 2-1 loss to defending MTAL champion Pacific Grove with a 7-3 decision.
What the Mustangs can't afford to do is look ahead to the final two weeks of the season, where tri-champions Soledad and Carmel await.
While it's a favorable schedule for King City, the next three weeks are equally critical to make those season ending battles meaningful.
