Coast Conference track finals

Between them are over 50 Coast Conference team titles in the last four decades.
Yet, a milestone the Panthers men's and women's track and field teams are chasing on Saturday is a fourth consecutive conference team title at the same time.
 The two Northern California powers will attempt the feat again at the conference finals at De Anza College.
 Hartnell currently has a 21 point lead in the men's division after just a handful of events while the women sit 11 points back after just three events.
 The women will ride the legs of their distance core, anchored by returning All-American Malena Grover, who broke the conference 10,000 meter record on Wednesday
 The Salinas High graduate will likely run the 800, 1,500 and 5,000 at the conference finals. The Panthers are stacked in the distance events with Nancy Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez and Lizette Garcia.
 Tori Teraji and Chelsey Andrade will anchor the throwing events for Hartnell, as Teraji chases 140 feet in the discus. Teraji was second in the conference hammer finals on Wednesday
 Depth in a number of events will be the key for the men, led by school record holder and two-time conference hammer champion Dustin Samms, a Monte Vista grad.
 Palma product Rhett Gonzalez and Nathan Bishop will look to provide points in the 110 high hurdles while Seaside grad Paul Keonig is among the Nor Cal leaders in the 400 intermediate hurdles.
 Bishop, who qualified for the state meet in the decathlon, is among the elite in the pole vault along with teammate Norman Napolitano.
 MPC's BreAnn Scally, a state meet qualifier two weeks ago in the heptathlon, will be a threat in the  jumps as well as both hurdle events at the conference finals.
 The Lobos are a surprising third in the women's division after the first day.
