Graham Santiago is doing it again.
The Alisal coach has got a cast of unknowns with a lunch pale attitude believing in themselves.
Fundamental baseball and solid pitching has seen the Trojans quietly run off seven straight wins, one win off the school record for consecutive wins.
A playoff spot, something that has eluded the program for three decades, is open for discussion.
During Alisal's run, it has outscored the opposition 52-12.
Granted none of the teams Alisal has beaten went to the postseason last year.
Who cares?
This is a program where two of its losses came by one run, another by two runs. Three of its four setbacks are to teams undefeated in league play.
The next step is a signature win.
The Trojans were in a similar position last year going into the final week of the season before losing their final three games.
The core of that team is back, determined to change the perception at Alisal.
Pitching has carried the Trojans during this run, with Ruben Gomez having tossed a no-hitter and JC Maravillo striking out 12 in 7 2/3 innings of relief in another game.
Maravillo has stung the ball at the plate all season along with Yael Cruz, Sergio Sandoval and Raul Garnica.
With only two teams remaining on their schedule with a winning record, a push for the postseason is a realistic goal. Erasing the demons from the past is a mental block.
