State boys wrestling

Matt Martinez hasn't taken being a section champion lightly.
But it's not the ultimate goal.
The Alvarez sophomore has his sites set on getting to the podium this weekend at the CIF State boys wrestling championships in Bakersfield.
Martinez, a Monterey Bay League and Central Coast Section champion, will compete at 170 pounds.
Teammates Riley Siason (106) and Angel Vasquez (160) will accompany him to state, as both were CCS runner-ups in their respective divisions.
Siason, who reached the state meet last year as a freshman at Christopher, and Vasquez received first round byes based solely on a draw.
CCS champion Enrique Zavala qualified at 113 pounds for Alisal along with teammate Juan Ruelas at 152 pounds.
Gonzales' Jose Sanchez will compete in the heavyweight division along with reigning two-time CCS champion Christian Rebottero of Monte Vista.
Sanchez led Gonzales to its first Mission Trail Athletic League team title in over a decade.
Watsonville's Kohana Wilks also qualified at 160 pounds.
