Mission Trail Athletic League
1. Pacific Grove: The football and basketball teams won league titles.
2. Carmel: A lot of potent bats in this lineup.
3. Soledad: Graduation has the reigning champions retooling.
4. King City: The youth on this team has to mature fast.
5. Stevenson: Late starts make the Pirates tough to gauge.
6. Greenfield: Made significant improvement last year.
7. Trinity: Can a CAL team compete in the MTAL?
8. Gonzales: The rebuilding process continues for the Spartans.
9. Marina: Could surprise some teams in the MTAL.
10. Anzar: No CAL this spring will make it difficult for Anzar.
Monterey Bay League
Gabilan Division
1. San Benito: Has captured nine of the last 10 league titles.
2. Monterey: Expectations have been high for four years.
3. Palma: Looking for stability with its third coach in three years.
4. Christopher: My sleeper team in a deep Gabilan Division.
5. Salinas: One of five teams that were .500 or better in league play last spring.
6. Monte Vista: The core of last year's team is back.
7. Watsonville: Reining Pacific Division champions make this a dynamic league.
Pacific Division
1. North Salinas: Defending co-champions sport two returning all-league pitchers.
2. North County: Made a move into the upper echelon last year.
3. Alisal: One of the most improved teams in the county last spring.
4. Seaside: One of the more aggressive base running teams in the county.
5. Alvarez: Closed last season with two big wins against playoff caliber teams.
6. Gilroy: Capable of climbing into title contention.
7. Pajaro Valley: Looking to snap a 93 game league losing streak.
