State Northern California Division I Tournament
Wednesday's game
No. 12 North Salinas (23-4) at No. 5 Heritage, Brentwood (21-9). 7 p.m.
The Vikings are in the tournament for the third straight year, but on the road this time after coming up short in their bid for a third straight Central Coast Section Division I title.
Heritage was the runner-ups in the North Coast Section Division I finals. Prior to that, it has won eight straight games, capturing the Bay Valley Athletic League.
Champions of the Gabilan Division the last four years, North Salinas had rattled off 11 straight wins before falling to Palo Alto in the CCS title game.
Gabilan Division co-Most Valuable Player Jordyn Enos has carried the burden on offense with help from Danae Snell and and Alissa Foster.
Size wise, the two teams match up. North Salinas will apply pressure defense for 32 minutes, having held 17 teams under 40 points. The Patriots held 11 teams under 40 points.
Staying out of foul trouble is critical for the Vikings. Ashley Tennant and Sherise Robinson have been difference makers on both ends of the floor in the postseason.
