Coast Conference track

A list of track and field heavy weights will congregate to Monterey Peninsula College on Saturday to take part in the Coast Conference Preview Meet.
Among the bigger names include Northern California power American River College of Sacramento, City College of San Francisco and Fresno City College.
Host MPC and reigning men's and women's conference champion Hartnell will compete in what is expected to produce some quality early season marks and times on the Lobos lightening fast track.
On display for the Panthers will be distance ace Malena Grover, who is ranked No. 1 in the state in the 1,500 (4.55.0). Teammate Nancy Rodriguez placed in the state last year in the 3,000 steeple.
On the men's side,  Edgar Bonilla - a state qualifier last year in the 1,600 for King City - was among the top distance runners in the state last fall in cross country for Hartnell.
Dustin Samms comes in with the third best mark in the state in the hammer. In addition, Seaside grad Paul Koenig and Palma product Rhett Gonzalez were prep state qualifiers in the hurdles.
Among those expected to take part for the Lobos is former North County standout BreAnn Scally, a CCS finalist last year in the hurdles and triple jump.
Kyana Rivera will take part in the sprints and relays for MPC while King City product Savannah Valladarez is a threat in the shot and discus.
Justin Nobida-Lagrimas, a state meet qualifier last year in the 100 at Palma, will run the 200 and compete in the long jump while Edwin Hermosillo provides depth in the sprints and jumps.
Also taking part are De Anza, Laney, College of San Mateo, Chabot and San Jose City.
