CCS boys wrestling

 A season filled with cutting weight and pre dawn runs comes down to one meet for county wrestlers chasing the dream of reaching the state championships.
 Nine wrestlers will go into Friday's prelims at Independence High in San Jose ranked in the top five, including Matt Martinez, who is ranked No. 1 at 170 pounds for Alvarez.
 Martinez, who was fifth last season at the section finals at 145 pounds, jumped a couple of weight classes this year to 170, where he's coming off a Monterey Bay League title..
 Alvarez teammate Riley Siason will go into the section finals ranked No. 2 at 106 pounds, as will  teammate Angel Vasquez at 160. Vasquez was sixth last year at 152.
 The top three in each weight class advance to the state championships.
 Palma's Michael Zaragoza, who was fourth last year at 132 pounds, will go into this years finals No. 3 at 138 pounds. He's also ranked 22nd in the state.
 Alvarez has four wrestlers ranked in the top five, including Kevin Ruiz, who is ranked No. 4 at 182 pounds, while Roberto Ortiz is seeded No. 5 at 113 pounds, behind Alisal's Enrique Zavala.
 Last year Ortiz was a state qualifier for the Eagles at 106 pounds.
 Alisal's Juan Ruelas will go into Friday's prelims seeded No. 4 at 152 pounds, as will Gonzales' Jose Sanchez at 285.
 Christian Rebottero is the heavy favorite to defend his CCS title at 285 pounds for Monte Vista.
 Monterey Bay League champion Gilroy is the heavy favorite to make it 14 straight CCS titles, with 11 wrestlers ranked in the top 4 among the 13 weight categories.
