Seaside boys basketball

Seaside (4-18, 1-11)
A program rich in tradition, filled with pride and more consecutive postseason appearances (28) than any other program in the county, was humbled last winter.
One year removed from a Gabilan Division title, the Spartans won just four games overall last year and finished at the bottom of the league standings.
A move down to the Pacific Division this year for Seaside means back to basics in the mind of head coach Wayne Garnett.
The objective this season is simple. Reload and get back to the Gabilan Division.
It won't happen without a commitment.
Garnett believes that's not an issue this year.
What Seaside lacks in size, it will make up for in quickness and a tenacious defense, starting with the return of Chris Choates.
The senior guard will be asked to fill a void on offense as well for the Spartans, who were held under 40 points eight times last year.
Seaside can get out and run with 1,000 yard running back Keishawn Robinson at the point and Malik Jeter and Choates on the wings.
The Spartans do have some muscle in the paint with sophomore DeMarcus Hawkins, who provides a physical presence inside.
Defense, though, will be this programs strength this winter. Its quickness could create headaches and potentially easy baskets in transition.
