North Salinas-North County football

Saturday's game
North Salinas (6-2) at North County (4-4), 2 p.m.
Five weeks ago the Condors were winless and searching for an identity.
Today the program is undefeated in the Pacific Division, chasing their first league title in 12 years.
No program has had a bigger turnaround this fall than North County, who had scored just 20 points in four non-league losses.
While moving Jordan Graves to quarterback helped ignite the offense, this has been a combination of a team maturing and buying into what first year coach Sean Gomes was preaching.
And that was poise and patience.
It's exactly what changed North Salinas' fortunes this fall after dropping eight straight to close last year.
The Vikings have also rattled off four consecutive Pacific Division wins, relying on an opportunist defense that has scored five touchdowns this year.
Ben Organista and Armando Armenta have been the glue behind North Salinas' defense while Tim Burkhardt has orchestrated the offense, which is averaging 38 points a game in league.
The Condors defense has given up just 43 points in four Pacific Division games. Gabriel Barajas has three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
Playing on a field that is below sea level could make for soggy conditions from the recent rains and cooler conditions.
