Thursday's finals
Mission Trail Athletic League
At Toro Park (3.01 miles), 2 p.m.
Last year Greenfield won its first girls cross country title and first girls sports title in school history.
Could the Bruins boys program follow suit today?
With a win over reigning champion King City in a dual this year, Greenfield will go into the Mission Trail Athletic League finals a slight favorite to win its first boys cross country title.
The Bruins will have to withstand King City's dynamic duo of Ramon Munoz and Ricardo Lizardi, who have run virtually 1-2 all season.
Greenfield's depth is what has carried them all season behind Jaime Garcia. A sleeper in the meet is Pacific Grove, who tied the Bruins at the last MTAL Center Meet.
The Bruins appear to be the favorites to make it two straight girls team titles with Evelin Meza and Jocelyn Sosa having dominated competition this fall.
Two-time all-leaguer Christina Hashimoto is healthy for the Breakers, which gives them a little more depth in their bid to unseat Greenfield. A sleeper is Santa Catalina.
