Hartnell cross country

Add another milestone for the Panthers women’s cross country team.
The significant seven raced to a second place team finish Saturday at the Community College State cross country championships at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Hartnell, who won the Coast Conference and Northern California team titles, finished behind national power Glendale.
Salinas High graduate Malena Grover added another All-American honor to her status, finishing third overall for the Panthers, covering the 5K loop in 18:07.
Following Grover were Rachel Shimbukuro (18:43); Lizette Garcia ((19:24); Nancy Rodriguez (19:24); Yessika Mayo (19:50); Maria Rodriguez (20:19) and Yvette Felix (20:28).
The Panthers men’s team placed fifth overall behind freshman Edgar Bonilla. The former King City High distance ace finished ninth, covering four miles in 20:46.
Chasing Bonilla for Hartnell included Jorge Sanchez (21:22); Rene Eiqueros (21:26); Tito Chaidez (21:26); Eduardo Orozco (NT), Oscar Mora (NT) and Diego Avila (NT).
