Hartnell cross country

Hosting the Northern California finals for the first time in 10 years, the Panthers will go into today's  2 p.m. championships at Toro Park as the favorites in the women's division.
The men, behind freshman distance ace Edgar Bonilla, will chase the states No. 1 ranked team in American River College.
Malena Grover will pace the women's team. A Junior College All-American last season, the Salinas High grad is among the top distance runners in the state.
Hartnell's strength is its depth. Overshadowed by Grover, Rachel Shimabukuro has dipped under 20 minutes at Toro Park.
Teammates Lizetta Garcia, Yessika Mayo, Yvette Felix, Adriana Jimenez and Maria Rodriguez have all been key contributors for the Coast Conference champions.
Bonilla, a state qualifier in cross country and track last year at King City, will be one of the favorites in the men's division for the Panthers.
The Coast Conference champions are deep behind Rene Siqueiros, Alvarez product Jorge Sanchez, Diego Avila, Angel Mejia, Tito Chaidez and North County alum Oscar Mora.
