Thursday's game
CCS Division II playoffs
No. 7 Carmel (17-9) at No. 10 Sobrato (12-11), 7 p.m.
One thing I will never understand about the postseason playoffs is how sites are determined in the early rounds.
Carmel is the higher seed, and has five more wins than Sobrato.
Yet, the Padres have to travel to Morgan Hill tonight to face Sobrato, who opened the postseason on Tuesday with a 12-6 win over Stevenson.
Carmel was also an approved site for the CCS playoffs.
The Padres went 7-7 on the road, but were 10-2 at home this fall.
Playing in the Blossom Valley Mount Hamilton Division, Sobrato went into the playoffs with a .500 record.
Kevin Auger and Wyatt Milne have been snipers in the pool for Carmel while Carter Whitaker has been a rock in the cage.
Three of the Padres last five games were decided by one goal.
