Carmel-Catalina volleyball

Wednesday's game
Carmel (12-1) at Santa Catalina (12-1), 6:30 p.m.
The beauty of two teams being tied going into the final match of the season means there can't be a co-championship.
Over the last eight years, the Mission Trail Athletic League title has run through either Carmel or the Cougars -- with King City gathering a share in 2013.
The Padres won the first battle between the two league powers on Oct. 13 in five games behind the efforts of Megan Gonzalez and Hana Nystrom.
Santa Catalina, who is one of the top ranked teams in the CCS in Division V, has won seven straight matches since, all by sweeps.
McKinley Fox has helped orchestrate the offense in a double-set attack, and has been among Santa Catalina's top hitters along with freshman Maria Santos and senior Lauren Garcia
The Cougars strength is their defense with sisters Tatum and Olivia Satow refusing to let balls drop in the back row. Laura Salvati and Madi Lombardi have served similar rolls for Carmel.
