Central Coast Section Division V playoffs
No. 8 Capuchino (6-4) at No. 1 Pacific Grove (8-2), 7 p.m.
The Peninsula Lake Division champion Mustangs are not a deep team in terms of depth with just 24 players on their roster.
Yet, after a 1-4 non-league season, which included a win over Soquel, Capuchino has rattled off five straight wins.
The emotion from 'The Shoe' game is always a concern for Pacific Grove, who shared the Mission Trail Athletic League title with Carmel and Soledad this year.
The last time the Breakers were seeded No. 1 in the playoffs in 2005, they were knocked out in the first round by Monterey.
Then again, the last time Pacific Grove lost to Carmel in the regular season finale, it went on to the CCS finals, before falling to eventual state champion Sacred Heart Prep.
Noah Cryns and Uche Ebo have combined for nearly 1,500 rushing yards this year, with Cryns going over 100 yards rushing for the third time in his last four games.
Defensively Cryns and Sam Fenstermaker each have four interceptions this year while Foster Smith, James Donlon and Robert Wilkerson have combined for 24 sacks.
In their eight wins, the Breakers first team defense has allowed 98 points. But in their two losses, they have given up 84 points.
