Friday's game
Stevenson (3-3) at Gonzales (4-3), 7:30 p.m.
Both teams have cooled a bit after fast starts, with each having given up over 40 points last week.
So will we see a shootout?
I still think defense dictates the tempo.
Gonzales is 4-0 this fall when it holds opponents under 10 points while the Pirates have held three teams to 10 points or less behind pass rusher Alexander Meredith.
That being said, both teams like to air it out as Casey Mornhinweg has thrown for over 1,200 yards for Stevenson while Logan Gomez has nearly 1,200 passing yards for Gonzales.
The one significant difference is the Spartans have been able to run the ball with Gomez compiling nearly 500 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
That being said, Fabian Acosta might be the most dangerous player on the field, having scored 13 touchdowns this fall for the Spartans, two on special teams.
Kenny Pich, Will Lansbury and Read Reynolds are all on pace to catch over 40 passes this season for Stevenson.
