Friday's game
Palma (3-1) at Christopher (1-2), 7:30 p.m.
It's uncertain if tailback Emilio Martinez will play this week after suffering a shoulder injury in last week's win over Aptos.
In his absence, the Chieftains were outscored 14-7 in the second half. Martinez has nine of the teams 15 touchdowns this year.
Shouldering some of the burden in the backfield was junior Jared Torculas, who picked up 88 yards behind Palma's talented front five, anchored by Drew Dalman and Zach Ralston.
Christopher, who won the Pacific Division title last year and was 9-2 overall, has been outscored 84-13 in the last two games.
Last year Cougars quarterback Matt Adamkiewicz threw for over 3,200 yards and 34 touchdowns. But he was injured in the teams third game and his status is uncertain.
In addition, Christopher head coach Tim Pierleoni stepped down two weeks ago to be with his wife, who is battling breast cancer.
What Palma has been this year is balanced on offense. Quarterback Jack Richardson has thrown for 700 yards and seven touchdowns, three to Isaiah Blanco.
Liam McMillin and Orlando Yepez have more than half of Richardson's completions this year.
The Chieftains defense, led by Angel Maldonado and Zach Berry, have forced eight turnovers in the last two games.
