Saturday's game
Los Medanos (2-3) vs. Hartnell (5-0) at Rabobank, 6 p.m.
I'm not sure you want a bye week when you're undefeated and playing some of your best football as the Panthers are.
Quarterback Justyn Gutierrez has flourished in head coach Matt Collins' offense, as he's on pace to throw for 3,000 plus yards and 36 touchdowns in a 10 game season.
Of course, it doesn't hurt having one of the nations top junior college receivers on Ronnie Turner, who already has the school's all-time record for receiving yards.
The 6-4 Turner is on pace for a second straight 1,000 yard receiving season. Eppy Henriques has been a nice second option with 26 catches and six touchdowns.
The return of tailback Marcus Washington has given the offense a lift as he has 13 catches in three games while averaging 45 yards a game on the ground.
Defensively, Salinas High alum Justin Pleasont has taken over the team lead in tackles with 28 while Reggie McGee has seven sacks.
Los Medanos has struggled offensively, having been held to 20 points or less four times. It does have a 14-7 win over MPC.
Quarterback Julius Mozee has thrown for 756 yards, but has been picked off seven times. As a team, Los Medanos has turned the ball over 13 times.
