King City-Stevenson football

Saturday's game
King City (3-3) at Stevenson (3-2), 2 p.m.
Essentially this is a playoff game for these teams, because a loss will all but eliminate them from the postseason chase.
Failing to convert a two-point conversation late in last week's 7-6 loss to defending champion Pacific Grove didn't cast question, rather confidence in the Pirates locker room.
A concern for Stevenson might be the reduced point production. Since erupting for 54 in its season opener, it has been on a steady decline in each of the last five weeks.
The Pirates defense, anchored by Alexander Meredith and Ben Mudd, has been solid, allowing just 64 points all season -- 34 coming in one game.
King City has never led at halftime in any game this year, having been outscored 92-25 in the first half. The defense is spending a lot of time on the field.
It's no secret where the ball is going when the Mustangs put it in the air near the end zone. Yet, you  still have to stop it as Jarod Davis has all seven touchdown catches this year from Jacob Flores.
Turnovers have been a thorn in the Mustangs side this year. Both teams have not run the ball well all season.
