Marc Scaroni, David Daines and the 1987 King City boys soccer team are all being inducted into the Mustangs Hall of Fame.
Scaroni remains the schools all-time leading rushing leader, having played on King City’s last two Central Coast Section title teams in 1982 and 1983.As a sophomore, he rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns in the Mustangs 26-19 win over North County in the 1982 CCS Division II South title game.
Scaroni, who broke former NFL player Jim Mankins all-time rushing record at King City in 1984, scored the only touchdown in the 1983 CCS title game against Harbor in a 7-0 win.
Scaroni also ran track for King City and remains No. 4 all-time in the long jump. He’s also a member of the school record 400 relay team.
Daines is beginning his 30th year of coaching at King City as a track and cross country coach. He’s also coached football, basketball and golf.
As a boys cross country coach, the Mustangs have won six MTAL titles under Daines and four CCS divisional titles. Last year King City finished second in the state in the Division IV finals.
Daines has also coached the boys track team to five league titles.
The 1987 boys soccer team, coached by Tim Swoverland, won the CCS Division II title. A member of that team was Ramon Bravo, who still holds the King City single season record for goals with 66.
