Gabilan Division cross country

Eight weeks of running through the Gabilan Division doesn't mean much if it's not achieved at the league finals.
While the confidence at North Salinas has soared this fall, it not oblivious to the fact that reigning league boys champion San Benito has closed the gap going into Saturday's finals at Toro Park.
The Balers have two of the elite runners in the league in Elijah Changco and Juan Gutierrez, who went 1-2 in the last Gabilan Division Center Meet 10 days ago at Toro.
What the Vikings possess is depth. It's been their strength all season in sweeping all three Gabilan Division Center Meets behind Christian Aldape and Raul Barraza.
Last week three runners for North Salinas cracked the top 10, including David Macias and Brandon Gutierrez.
A sleeper in the finals is Salinas, who used strong efforts at the last Center Meet from distance ace Jonathan Saldana and Peter Tavares to put their name in the hat.
San Benito is clearly the class of the girls division, having dominated league competition all fall.
Individually, Salinas City Meet champion Kayla Clayton of Salinas has won the last two Center Meets.
Chasing Clayton includes the Balers Elli Kliewer, North County freshman Faith Mora and Alisal standout Nadia Perez.
