North Salinas-Alvarez football

Friday's game
North Salinas (0-0) at Alvarez (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
Over the last two years, the only team in the county with more wins than the Eagles (19) has been Pacific Grove (21).
North Salinas and Alvarez got semi acquainted last Friday in the Salinas Jamboree. Of course neither showed much of their offense.
Alvarez has won the last two meetings between the two Salinas rivals, including a 36-34 decision in 2013 that lead to the programs first undefeated regular season.
Alan Camel Edwards gave a glimpse of his potential at the jamboree for Alvarez, breaking a tackle, reversing direction and gliding 40 yards for a touchdown.
North Salinas QB Tim Burkhardt has a big league arm and a receiver with sure hands in Lawrence Chambers.
The Vikings struggles last year came from players and coaches not on the same page. That isn't the case this year.
Surviving its non-league schedule is critical for North Salinas, who sees Alvarez, Salinas and Pitman of Turlock in the first month.
