Friday's game
Monta Vista-Cupertino (1-0) at Seaside (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Spartans have got to keep an eye on quarterback Golan Gingold, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns last week in Monta Vista's 27-15 win over Westmont.
This is not a team that will beat you airing it out. Gingold put the ball up just three times last week, but completed two of those passes.
Identities aren't established in one game. Seaside is still searching for one offensively, having failed to produce an offensive point in last week's loss to Soledad.
Dating back to last year, the Spartans have been held to a touchdown or less in nine of their last 10 games.
Malik Jeter showed off his instincts in returning a kickoff 75 yards for the Spartans only points last week.
Seaside is still a young team growing as a unit. What it needs is a growth spurt.
