Akili Jones

There are many things that get your attention about the Monterey tailback.
Jones has instincts when to hit the hole, yet can be patient when waiting for a seam to develop.
 You can't teach that.
In the open field, there's no one faster or smoother, as evident by Jones having four runs of 50 yards or more in the Toreadores home opening win.
Oh, Jones earned his career high 317 yards on 30 carries Saturday, not to mention the 69 yard run called back for a flag away from the play.
Is he built for 30 carries a game?
 Yes.
But I'd be cautious about using Jones full time on defense as well.
He means too much to that offense not to be at full strength for four quarters.
