Since moving to the bullpen two years ago, Michael Jensen has climbed the Chicago Cubs’ minor league ladder, compiling a 1.37 earned run average in 18 appearances this summer for the Cubs Double A affiliate in Tennessee.
The hard-throwing right-hander is 2-2 this year with one save, compiling 25 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings, averaging 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings.Jensen, who was a starting pitcher for Salinas High and Hartnell College, has 87 strikeouts in 86 innings since becoming a reliever in the Cubs farm system following elbow surgery.
