Covossay Windham

Already a beast to bring down, the 225-pound junior tailback added speed to his resume in the off-season for Carmel, making him a threat for 2,000 yards this year.
Windham rushed for 1,601 yards and 17 touchdowns last season for the Padres, providing a balanced attack. Carmel could have -- dare I say - a run first mentality this fall.

Why do people think of Carmel as a "pass first" team? Over the past six seasons Carmel has gained 16,047 yards passing and 18,025 yards rushing. That's right, more yards rushing than passing. And over that same time frame, the average yards per catch at Carmel was 14.8 yards, while the average yards per catch for the Palma quarterbacks of Fales, Reader, Bozzo, Richardson and Casas was 15.1. And the average yards per completion for Jamie Jensen at Gilroy was 14.9. So the numbers don't support the perception that Carmel is a pass crazy offense. (Down in Allen Texas last year they threw for 4,750 yards and ran for 3,350 and that's not even a pass crazy school by Texas standards.)
