The Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners presented athletic scholarships to 10 distance runners, who will continue to run either cross country or track in college, totaling $12,000.
Among them is King City's Edgar Bonilla, who is competing today in the CIF State track and field championships in the 1,600 meters.
Also honored were Alisal's Daniel Gutierrez and Jose Luna, Alvarez's Jorge Sanchez, Greenfield's Odalys Barajas, North County's Oscar Mora, Pacific Grove's Michelle Watkins, Palma's Jose Montes, Salinas' Leah Meuter and Seaside's Jose Gonzales.
The Wednesday Night Laundry Runners, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary, having been giving out scholarships through donations for senior high school distance runners in Monterey County for 14 years.
