North County is apparently going to hire a football coach from the past. Monterey insists it will be fine when that decision is made.
In the meantime, assistant coaches are running the summer programs at both schools.
Which is fine, assuming the assistants are retained.
At this stage, that would appear to be a forgone conclusion.
Instilling a new system this late, though, could create growing pains. We are 51 days out from the start of fall football practice.
The summer is often used as a means to fine tune systems, not learn them.
Both these programs have the personnel to make playoff pushes. Stability, however, is important in any sport. And that starts at the top.
