Not ready to let a dream die, Monterey grad David Wayne Russo has been effective in the first month of the season for the Rockford Aviators, and independent baseball club in Illinois.
The left-handed hurler is 1-0 with one save in eight appearances. In nine innings, Russo has eight strikeouts.
Russo was The Herald's Baseball Player of the Year in 2009, spending four years at San Jose State.
