Salinas-Pioneer baseball

CCS Division I baseball playoffs
Wednesday's game, 4 p.m.
No. 10 Salinas (14-13) at No. 7 Pioneer (15-11)
No team is limping more into the playoffs than the Cowboys, who went from being in first place in the Gabilan Division to dropping their final five leagues games to fall to fourth.
Of course, none of that matters in the postseason.
Salinas hopes to recapture the magic that saw them rattle off seven straight wins back in March.
While Josh Olivarria has cooled since his torrid first half, he is still the Cowboys offensive leader in nearly every category, and the ace of the pitching staff.
Pioneer was fourth in the Mount Hamilton Division. Prior to closing the season with a loss to Live Oak, it had rattled off four straight wins.
The Mustangs aren't a team with power, and hit just .243 as a team, with 27 of its 166 hits going for extra bases.
Pioneer is just 7-7 at home.
