CCS girls track trials

All eyes will be on Mikayla Revera, who has decided to compete in the 100, 200 and 400 Saturday at the Central Coast Section track and field trials.
The sophomore breezed to Mission Trail Athletic League titles in all three events last week, helping Santa Catalina to a third straight MTAL team title.
While she comes into the section trials ranked No. 2 in the 100 (12.20), Revera has the 11th fastest time in the state in the 400 at 55.65.
The concern is how will Revera's legs respond after running a 400 first. She is likely to get ample rest because there are four heats in Saturday's trials at San Jose City College.
That won't be the case in the finals on May 29, should she qualify and elect to pursue both. Revera is also ranked No. 3 in the CCS in the 200 (24.90).
Positioning herself for a shot at the finals in the shot put is Kelly Otherson, who uncorked the eight-pound iron ball 37-feet-2 at last week's Master Meet for Alvarez.
Rising up the charts in the 300 low hurdles over the last month has been Salinas' Kacie Buck, who is ranked No. 6 at 46.63. Teammate D'Vina Brown is fifth in the discus at 122-0.
The top eight from the trials advance to the finals.
Alvarez's school record girls 400 relay team of Hannah Thompson, Carina Welch, Valeria Quinones and Deaysia Gamble have climbed to No. 5 in the section at 49.20.
Two athletes looking to make return appearances in the CCS finals include North Salinas' Nicole Hermosillo-Wright in the long jump and Elizabeth Alcala in the discus.
Keep an eye on San Benito sophomore Marisa Villegas, who will focus on the 800 after winning four events at the Gabilan Division finals two weeks ago.
