How will a 13-day layoff between games affect Salinas?
Prior to the massive break, the Cowboys were playing as well as any team with seven straight wins, including a tournament title in Fresno.
Monterey tuned up for a return to the Gabilan Division today at Sollecito Park, snapping a four-game losing streak last week with another one-run game -- its eighth of the season.
Pitching has been a strength for both teams, as evident by their first meeting back on March 27, a 2-1 Salinas win.
Josh Olivarria won his last three starts for Salinas, striking out 15 in his last outing, while Gavin Jarvis and Nick Russo have taken turns shutting down teams for Monterey.
Offensively the Toreadores have struggled all season while Salinas has relied on Olivarria's torrid start at the plate along with Cooper Smith and Ryan Jensen.
Salinas will be without the services of its other ace on the mound in Ethan Santos, who suffered a severe ankle injury
