Revera in elite company

It's as deep of a 400 meter class as we've seen in years in the Central Coast Section.
Four girls are under 56 seconds -- six weeks before the finals.
One of them is sophomore Mikayla Revera.
Only three will move on to the state meet, unless an athlete meets an automatic qualifying state mark at their section finals meet.
And right now the Santa Catalina sprinter is under the state provisional mark of 55.80, having run 55.65 last week at the Top 8 Meet.
Revera's current time would have placed eighth in the state last year.
While Revera owns the fastest time in the section in the 100, her current mark of 12.20 would have put her 19th in the state last year.
Which is why Revera's focus should be on the 400 rather than the 100 when the elimination process begins in a few weeks. She will also be a threat in the 200 at 24.90.
Inching closer to a state provisional mark in the discus is King City's Steven McEnroe, who tossed it a career best 160-3 last week into the prevailing Salinas' winds.
McEnroe, who is ranked third in the section, is also chasing the shadows of his dad, who uncorked the discus over 175-feet while at Seaside 35 years ago.
King City could be a top 10 team at the CCS finals with its distance crew, anchored by senior Edgar Bonilla, who has the top time in the 1,600 at 4:18.66.
The Mustangs currently have two runners ranked in the top six in the CCS in the 1,600 and 3,200, as well as Eduardo Orozco in the 800 (1:56.51).
