Carmel-Catalina softball

Losing never sits well with championship teams.
Getting humbled leaves a bad taste. It didn't matter that it was a non-league game.
Four-time defending Mission Trail Athletic League champion Santa Catalina has been out to make amends since that 15-4 pasting by Monterey.
The Cougars will go into today's MTAL showdown with Carmel undefeated in league and 4-0 since that debacle, having outscored the opposition 29-6.
 So what changed?
 Nothing really.
Oh, the Cougars got a couple of players back from spring break. But the core is what stabilizes this team and provides the leadership.
And that starts with Vanessa Furman, Marissa Bruno, Tatumn Satow and Lauren Garcia.
The Padres have been involved in eight games decided by two runs or less, having gone 4-4. One of those losses, however, was a 2-1 setback in league to Stevenson.
The bats have been productive of late with Ashlyn Davis and Baylee Nottenkamper providing clutch hits and RBI.
