The former Hartnell College distance ace has qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in the 5,000 meters after clocking 16:52.50 at the San Francisco Distance Carnival.
A senior at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Johnston is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation in Division II in the 5,000.Johnston is a former Coast Conference champion in the 1,500 meters for the Panthers, and was the Northern California runner up in 2012.
