This spring the Toreadores are back in the Gabilan after winning the Pacific Division in 2014, which is what Seaside did in 2013, and Monterey in 2012.
Seeing a pattern here?
While Seaside will be a favorite in the Pacific after finishing last in the Gabilan last spring, Monterey has aspirations of staying put this time.
And it should.
It has one of the premier hitters in the county in junior Gina Bruno with teammates Catie Montante and Ashley Brady being table setters.
| And the Toreadores may have something they haven't had in two previous trips to the Gabilan and that's pitching. Lexi Singh has put together a strong start, where she's recorded eight or more strikeouts in three games. As a result, Monterey has jumped out to a 6-3 non-league start. Bottom line. You can't compete in the Gabilan without good pitching. | |
