Salinas, a program that seems to challenge for supremacy each year, is in transition with a new coach and a virtual new lineup, while Alvarez is off to the best start in school history.
So how do they match up?
We're about to find out.
The Eagles have been lights out at home at 4-0, including a win over Carmel. The road, though, has been a little more bumpy at 1-2.
While Salinas calls the Sports Complex home, it's really a neutral site.
Giana Deleon and Irene Villa have taken turns throwing in the circle for Alvarez (6-2) while Mia Pinedo, Angelina Ruiz and Viviana Soria have sprayed the ball all over the field.
Harlee Noda has been a one-man wrecking crew for Salinas (1-2) with three bombs in her first three games. Jocelyn Barraga and Allison Yatsky have both had multiple hit games.
