Perhaps it was the wake up call the Pirates needed.
Humbled at home by a team that was winless at the time.
Ultimately, it could be the difference in Stevenson playing for a Mission Trail Athletic League title.
At the same time, it changed the course of the Pirates league season.
Owners of five straight wins, Stevenson is 6-1 since the loss -- the one setback coming from once-beaten Pacific Grove by three points.
Stevenson has already avenged two earlier season league losses, including a 15-point win over four-time MTAL champion Carmel.
It doesn't hurt that the Pirates have sizzled from beyond the 3-point arc as Parker Olin, Jack Burgess and Kenny Pich have a combined 135 3-point goals.
Olin has had six or more 3-point goals in three of his last four games.
Stevenson is also playing better defense, holding six of its last seven opponents under 50 points.
