North Salinas girls soccer

 Nothing has come easy for the resurgent Vikings program, which is chasing their first title in nine years and first winning season in eight years.
 Yet, while every Pacific Division game has been a battle, North Salinas remains unbeaten in eight games at 5-0-3.
 Three of the last four league teams the Vikings face ended in ties in the first round, meaning these games are all playoff type showdowns, including today's meeting with visiting Pajaro.
 Dennise Torres-Alfaro and Maria Zaragoza have carried the offense for North Salinas. But defense has dictated the season. Goalie Julia Ruiz has posted shutouts in three of her last four games.
