Saturday's game
No. 8 Homestead (12-11) vs. No. 1 North Salinas (21-2) at Piedmont Hills, 2:45 p.m.
Last year the Vikings went into the playoffs riding a 16 game winning streak en route to capturing a Division I title. This year it is a 13 game winning streak entering the postseason.
With the core from last year's title team -- including reigning league MVP Alyssa Springs -- virtually intact this season, North Salinas isn't likely to succumb to the pressure of repeating the feat.
Homestead finished in a tie for second in the El Camino Division, opening the playoffs with a win over Evergreen Valley.
Junior Ugochi Anudokem is averaging 10.1 points and 12.2 rebounds a game for the Mustangs, who fell by 15 to Gabilan Division opponent Monte Vista on Jan. 3.
North Salinas is 15-0 when holding an opponent under 40 points.
While Springs is having another MVP type season for North Salinas at just under 17 points a game, Nicole Hermosillo-Wright, Jordyn Enos and Aliyah Urzua are all averaging over eight points.
