Apparently enough pressure was applied to force a change as Monterey and Seaside will meet after all next fall in football, enabling the annual battle to go into its fifth decade.
Of course, it meant Seaside backing out of its already signed contract to play King City in Week 3. And Monterey was suppose to host Kennedy in Week 3.
This does make more sense from a financial standpoint.
While the Monterey-Seaside game should always be a part of the schedule, the return of it could have been handled better.
King City coach Mac Villanueva said his athletic director was told by a Seaside administrator that it was being forced to play Monterey by the district.
Remember Seaside and Monterey are not in the same division this fall for football, which is where the problem originally surfaced.
But you've left two schools without a game.
