Projected girls hoop finishes

Mission Trail Athletic League
1. Pacific Grove: The defending champions struggled offensively after Christmas.
2. Carmel: Holly Whittaker and Amber Clark are a dynamic combination.
3. Santa Catalina: How will this team respond after going 24 days without a game?
4. Greenfield: No one gets more out of his squad than Bruins coach John Radcliff.
5. Gonzales: This might be the most improved team in the MTAL.
6. King City: Could the Mustangs miss the playoffs for a second straight year after 31 straight trips?
7. Soledad: This has not looked anything like last year's school record tying squad.
8. Stevenson: An improved team still has a long road to climb.

Monterey Bay League
Pacific Division
1. Notre Dame: Two scholarship bound softball players are carrying the offense.
2. Alisal: Has a title team type defense. Can the offense find itself?
3. Alvarez: A new coach has brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
4. North County: Could be a darkhorse in the competitive Pacific Division.
5. Pajaro Valley: Has already equaled last year's entire win total.
6. Monterey: Appears headed in the right direction in rebuilding this program.
7. Watsonville: Has shown improvement in the preseason.

Gabilan Division
1. North Salinas: The defending CCS D1 champions are the most dangerous team.
2. Monte Vista: Not far behind is MVC, who outscored nine opponents by nearly 400 points.
3. San Benito: After missing the playoffs last year, the Balers are back.
4. Seaside: Two all-leaguers, plus the return of Marille Tuazon make this team a contender.
5. Salinas: Has its work cut out in a league that has gotten stronger.
6. Christopher: Don't be mislead by their 1-8 preseason record.
7. Gilroy: The defending Pacific Division champions will find the Gabilan difficult.
