So much for this being ‘Big Week’ for Palma.
The Chieftains made a statement on Wednesday and sent a message on Friday, handing host Christopher a 57-37 loss. This was suppose to be the week Palma was challenged in league play.
Instead, it comes up with its two most impressive wins of the season -- both on the road -- to improve to 5-0 in the Gabilan Division.
The Chieftains outscored Christopher 24-3 in the third quarter to turn a game in doubt into a route.
Now comes its biggest rival in Salinas (15-2), who has rattled off four straight wins since falling in its opener to Monte Vista.
We said before the year started that these were the two best teams in the county. There is no reason to believe any different at this stage.
